Corporate Treasurer

TERM OF OFFICE. The SCA Treasurer shall be elected by the general membership. The term of office shall be for one year from the date of the election.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES. The SCA Treasurer shall have the following general responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Business Manager in order to ensure the solvency and financial strength of SCA. Design and implement financial policies, strategies, and procedures to meet these objectives.
  • Serve as a member of the Board of Directors.
  • Chair the Financial Committee.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES. The SCA Treasurer shall have the following specific responsibilities:

  • Report to the Board of Directors concerning:
    • Corporate financial status, including but not limited to, the review of SCA's annual and quarterly balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and budgets.
    • Recommendations of the Financial Committee regarding changes in financial policies and procedures.
    • Report approval by the Financial Committee of standard promissory notes, and make recommendation regarding others.
  • It is suggested that they post and maintain at least two regularly scheduled office hours each week in the business office.
  • Be a signer for all corporate, house, and food bank accounts.
  • Assist the Business Manager and House Treasurers with the collection of fees and deposits.
  • Convene Financial Committee meetings at least twice a month. Post meeting agendas in each house at least 48 hours in advance.
  • Ensure that House treasurers are adequately trained at the beginning of each term.
  • If the houses assess work party fines then ensure that house maintenance is adequately trained in the proper use and accounting of work party fines and credits at the beginning of each term.
  • If the houses assess job fines then ensure that house job coordinators are adequately trained in the proper use and accounting of job fines and credits at the beginning of each term if they are using fines.
  • Along with the Financial Committee, submit to the Board of Directors a proposed operating budget for the following year, including fee installment amounts and dates. This should be done by March 1st of each year.
  • Review financial forms each fiscal year and amend as appropriate.
  • Review the SCA Treasurer job description with his or her successor, and train successor.
  • Submit a written review of the SCA Treasurer position to the Board of Directors at the end of the term of office.
  • Ensure that the House Treasurers are fulfilling their duties by checking in with each of them at least once a week.

ACCOUNTABILITY, SUPERVISION, AND COMPENSATION.

  • The SCA Treasurer shall report directly to the SCA Chairperson.
  • The SCA Treasurer shall receive 4 job points during Fall and Spring terms and 5 points during Winter term as compensation. In addition, the SCA Treasurer shall act as the house treasurer during the summer term if only one house is open.
